I am being accused of being "greedy" & the thread was closed before I had a chance to defend myself. I have never gotten a "free brain". Got one for a really good price though! As a matter of fact, in the past 3 years I have been doing reefs, the only free things I've ever gotten (other than the normal "extras" we all get while buying frags) was this cleaner crew, gorgonian & a chocochip star that ate $90 worth of anemones! All of which I traveled quite a ways for.
I can't tell you how much free stuff I give away to folks--either buying frags from my tank or just stopping by for a look-see. I learned that kind of generosity from all you guys & love to pass it on. A fellow posted here a while back, that he was a newbie & could some of us help him out with frags. I gave him a bunch of stuff & even fragged one of my favorite zoas. He was thrilled!
I have always felt that I missed out on the really great deals (like Zoolander's stuff), although still go home with great stuff--all the best is already picked thru by the time I'd get there. Folks would say 1st come, 1st serve & then when I'd get there, all the best was being saved for someone. I understand if folks want the best stuff to go to their friends--folks that may have given them their 1st frags, or whatever. Just say that then. So when this started happening to me, I realized I better stay viligant & jump when folks were tearing down tanks--something that Zoolander taught me. I always saw him getting the 1st pick of everything & he said I needed to be willing to travel more than I was & get around more. I drove all the way to Aurora (from Ohare area) for the starfish & today went 60 miles away to PU that cleaner crew. I will be giving away probably half of it for free, to the fellow getting me my brand new, 90g tank for no extra cost than wholsale price. I thought this was how things worked around here, please tell me if I'm wrong!
I am sorry that Larry is having a hard time & I hate to hear whenever someone has to tear down their tank & sell off all their prized posessions. As I was driving home, I was thinking that I would like to offer him some $$$. Let me tell you how surprised I was & how terrible I felt, when I saw that thead saying all those awful things about me. If you only really knew me...
Please keep this civil, so the thread doesn't get locked again.
