Getting Mantis out of a rock?

My son called me tonight and said he saw a black colored mantis in his tank. It went into a rock so he pulled the rock out of his tank, He put it in a bucket of SW from his tank with a power head.Now how does he get it out of the rock? We don't want to hurt rock or mantis.

make some salt water at like 1.020,pick up rock, pour water into rock, with any luck he will scurry out. wont hurt him or rock.

Mantis still in rock, any ideas.

I would take a turkey baster or syringe with a little seltzer water and holding the rock above a the bucket of saltwater squirt it in there. If you have the right hole i'd bet he'd jump right out.

Am I missing something here? I had always read high salt or fresh water shocks them out of a rock. Low salt like 1.020 works???
You could always hang rock over water and eventually it will jump down into it, of course everything on rock dies.
