getting my purple on...

Reef Bass

colors and textures
Friday I am expecting a shipment containing an off the hook 4.25" mini colony of purple Acropora monticulosa, a bomb 2" purple Acropoa gemmifera, an awesome 2" green with purple tips Acropora millipora and a psychotic 2.5" gold and purple Tridacna maxima.

Pictures to follow. :D

If I can ever get my tank back together I call dibs on the first frags. As you know I too like to get my purple on. ;)

That Garf Bonzai should be enough purple LOL :) Do any of you have the purple monster? Thats another piece I liked that was purple.

I got a nice colony of a purple acro that I will give you a piece of. I just didn't have time to cut it before the meeting.

Thanks Bob.

I would like some purple monster as well. Someone locate a small colony and let's share. I suggest a small colony because I think it would take considerable time to grow a frag out.

Good luck on hoping for a small colony. That only happens during an out of the hobby deal. I dont even see frage being sold from other hobbyists. I swear tom used to have a piece. Hopefully I can get a frag tomorrow?

I know someone on here has a contact at vivid, maybe we should see if we can get a deal if we buy a few frags of purple monster.

Speaking of Eddie's purple monster. I was talking to some of the vendors I know at NVR's swap in regards to the purple monster. One told me not worth having as a grow out item to sell frags of, VERY slow. Makes sense BUT I did notice someone got a frag of it at the swap LOL.

I'd be happy to have it and not grow it out for sale. ;)

IMHO, it belongs in our stable of club corals.

Shipment update: A. monticulosa did not make it. I could smell rotting acro when I picked up the box. A real shame as it was an awesome coral and exactly what I had wanted. A dozen finger thick and length branches purple from top to bottom, only over half the fingers were showing white skeleton from the bottom up and the rest of the color disappeared within 8 or so hours of opening the box. Divers Den honored the guarantee.

A. gemmifera is lovely, with purple tips, but not the top to bottom purple that A. monticulosa was. More delicate branches, almost bottle-brushy with its longer thinner coralites. Little tiny polyps.

A. millepora, green with purple tips, is beautiful and doing well. Showing a lot of promise of larger beauty.

Stinks to hear about the DOA especially when the piece was represented correctly in the site picture.(a very nice specimen) Glad to hear the other two acros and the clam arrived in better shape. Lets have some pics when they start showing some fur.;)

Eddies PM is not the Tyree one, but is just as nice.

Eddie wasn't around in 95.

Nearly every event I attend in the US has a frag of PM at it FWIW.

I have what I was told is tyree purple monster, I've had it a couple years now and is a very small colony, It started out one branch about 3/4 inch. it has faded out to a light purple, The fading has to do with my tank all my blues and purples fade very frustrating, anyway might be interested in trading it for a dosing pump or mp40 I paid 130 for the the original frag
