Getting out of the Hobby. Will begin selling Equipment

As many of you know, I am applying to medical school. In anticipation for beginning a daunting new endeavor in fall 2007, I regrettably will need to leave this time-zapping hobby.

In case I do not get accepted, Katherine will be applying for residency and we will likely leave the state. Maybe, (fingers crossed) Katherine will match in Hawaii and Ed will have to share his reef with me . . . again. So, the timing is right to leave the hobby now.

Right now I am selling a Deltec AP701 that I purchased in November from ATR for $1216. Price is $850 for quick sell. $50 for shipping, and local pickup is free. I often go to Phx, so we can work something out for delivery up there. I do give preference for a local sale and will be posting most of my equipment once the tank is empty.

If someone is interested in buying large lots of stuff, send me a PM. I do need to sell the corals rock and sand before selling any equipment. So, I will entertain offers for big purchases only at this time and items will be sold individually later on.

Here is the link for the Deltec listing.

What a bummer for the local Reefing Comunity! I was wondering why you had been laying low, hope you get your wish but we'll miss you. Will you still attend next week? I'ld like to talk to you about what acro's you have.

This is horrible news, my only local reefing buddy is leaving. Your tank has been very inspiring for me. I am sure you will have great success in what ever you dedicate yourself to.

I am going to need to stock up I guess. I call dibs on the frogspawn, I have been in love with it for awhile. Also I need the SPS. In addition I will also need at least one polyp of every zoo you have and all those purple things:) Perhaps I can pull weeds for trade:) I will be in touch Scott. Congrats on your decision, I hear the U just dropped med school tuition. Reefing is a drug, you'll be back someday...

I will be at the auction. I plan on bringing alot of things. Some of the bigger corals I will likely just list in the forum and if someone wants to buy it for a fixed price, then they can come get it or I can bring it to the auction.

Here is the message I posted in the PHX forum.

OK guys, I have recieved many PMs. I have not yet put a list of items together. I will be working on this in the next week. So pleased stay tuned and I will post a list with pictures.

Some of the more exotic zoanthids I have, I will be selling online in the RC sale forum as small frags. Zoas ship well, so I will try to maximize profits by listing there. I will try to list them tonight. I have true PPE, Armor of God, Whammin Watermellon, Desert Fox, etc.

Most of the LPS and sps are too big to ship and do not fare as well. So, I will prefer local sales for these items and will work on that too.

What I am really looking for with offers right now are on large lots of equipment, and the tank itself.

I would prefer to sell the tank as a complete system, or at least in large lots. I will be working on prices and getting pictures up too.

Once all the coroals are gone, I would like to sell all the LR and LS in one swoop too. I never kept track of how much rock I hae, but it fills a 110 tall tank, and I image its close to 150-200 pounds. The sandbed is deep at about 6" all the way across. So this would be plenty to fill a bigger reef system with a shallow bed. I have about 300 pounds of Southdown in there.

I just can't believe that Scott isn't going to have a reef tank. I figure he will get bored within a year and come back with a TOTM.

Good luck with Med school, Scott. I don't have any room for new corals, and I can't think of any equipment I need. The skimmer won't fit in my 12" deep sump.

No problem Mike.

Thanks for all the nice comments, I appreciate that. Maybe I will keep my Prop tank :) It is smaller and needs much less maintenance.

Matt, that is why I gave you all the good deals, first choice, and all the freebees

If you see a stranger peeking through your front blinds, no worries its just me gazing :)

At least you can still look at the corals you enjoy and if you ever want some frags of cool SPS then you know where to get it for free.

tropoasis- I think I got most of Scott's good SPS, but if you can wait a little for them to grow I would be happy to trade some frags. I don't know much about their names so I will send you photos when they get a little bigger.

P.S. I tried to send you a PM, but it didn't work.

I am working on a package deal fro everything, so I will post a list of available corals as soon as this deal is complete.

Scott, so sorry to have you leave us! Good luck to both you and Katherine. I feel as though you have been a great force in getting this group organized and providing leadership, and I hope we don't suffer too much without you. You have been a mentor to many of us with less experience. And my son will miss coming to visit your kitties!
