Getting out of the hobby

It is with a sad tone in my typing that I must exit this hobby. My many years of successful reefkeeping and husbandry will always be in my heart, but it is time to move on. I have had numerous tanks and have met wonderful individuals from all over the country.

Having spoken at numerous conferences as well...it just furthers my pain. Hopefully the books I have authored will continue the legacy for current and future reefkeepers.

For those of you curious about my current aquariums, I will be donating the fish and corals equally to all of the LFS's in the area to support them. I will be disposing of my light systems, tanks, sumps, refugiums, skimmers, pumps, and all misc supplies because I dont want to go through the hassle of selling it all.

Thanks to you all for your support.

If by disposing you mean handing off to friends, I can see that making sense. If you're literally trashing it - why not put a set price on everything, you can make back at least some of your money.

Good luck to you and hope you come back . . . soon!!

I have one question, when you say "disposing" do you mean throwing out? If so, I'm sure there are a ton of people who could use whatever you consider trash and thank you for helping them out. This is an expensive hobby and seeing good gear getting pitched just doesn't make much sense to me. I hope that's not what you meant.

Yes, I have all top of the line equipment in great shape. I can't deal with seeing it going to others so I am trashing it all.

This is just too painful for me right now. I think I will hold my skimmer while I unplug it.

I look at you all see the love there that's sleeping
While my skimmer gently weeps
I look at the floor and I see it need sweeping
Still my skimmer gently weeps

I don't know why nobody told you
how to unfold you love
I don't know how someone controlled you
they bought and sold you

I look at the world and I notice it's turning
While my skimmer gently weeps
With every mistake we must surely be learning
Still my skimmer gently weeps

I don't know how you were diverted
you were perverted too
I don't know how you were inverted
no one alerted you

I look at you all see the love there that's sleeping
While my skimmer gently weeps
I look at you all
Still my skimmer gently weeps

Ok, I changed my mind. I dumped all of my corals and fish into Lake Michigan...I hope this doesnt have any environmental affects. As far as the equipment....I shipped it all to Tonya. so please PM him for more details.
