I am in the planning stages of a 180 to 225 tank where are sites that have tanks for sale. What brands are good and how do I go about finding one. Any web sites any suggestions on closed loop or just powerheads? All input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I think the lack of response is due to the question being simply too broad.

A good week reading as many post in the Large tank forum as possible will give you a good start. Find out what people used, and find older tanks and see what they changed or regret.

My 2c anyways.....
Glasscages, Marineland, and Miracles are good if you go glass over 180. Otherwise you can get a 180 from most any Mfg. but I'd still go with these three if I didn't go custom.

Closed loops allow you to hide stuff, but are ALOT of work. If you are not in for a major project - then stick with powerheads, waveboxes and fake tunze rocks. To have a closed loop work flawlessly requires planning. Powerheads on the other hand, can be moved.
That said I love my closed loop so far.

Thanks for the response I am thinking more on the 180 size with staphire glass on three sides. I have a couple more specific questions about equipment? I have a bermuda 3-c it claims to do 300 gallons will it do 180 gallons I know bermuda says they are rated for up to that just wondered if anyone has exp with a 3-c on a large tank. I had also thought about Vortecs maybe 2 of them; Are tunzes better if so what model is comparable with the vortecs.

You should look into the marineland deep tanks. Your LFS should be able to get them. You can get them with starfire on 3 sides. They have a 300g that is 96 x 36 x 27. It has corner overflows. You can get one for a little under 2k. They also have a 250g version i believe. I personally prefer CL systems. They are cheaper and look better. If you go with powerheads, then go with 2 vortechs with the controller. I have never heard of a bermuda skimmer?
