Getting star polyps to grow on glass?

My LFS has green star polyps growing on his glass, but the only guy who knows how to make it happen is never there when I come in.

So, has anyone had any experience with making this happen? I understand they are relatively easy to get growing, just wondering if I need to add something to make it happen.

Thanks,
Heath

If you just set them on the glass, and give them time, you should have a grassy field going in no time.

Good water quality, good light and flow should do the trick. No additives necessary.

Thanks to both of y'all. I didnt know if I needed to actually afix them to the glass like a frag, or if it would just eventually do it on its own.

Cut a big chunk and put a bit of glue on it and slap it on the back of the tank. I've got about 4-5 pieces that are growing like crazy on my back glass/overflow.

i also have some gsp that are growing on my glass also a lot of pulsing xzena.just put it right next to the glass were it can grow upward and it will

When we had gsp, I really liked it when they grew on the glass. They are so much easier to control there.

Many times, we have powerheads pointing towards the front of the tank. If you are going to do this, make sure the glass (back, I assume) is getting plenty of current.

Superglue is your friend. Just make sure the glass is clean.

I had star polyps growing on my glass (front actually) The polyps had crept a bit across the sand bed and started working upwards, no glue necessary, just patience.

I just put the rock that gsp was on in a corner and it starts growing and attaching it self. it is a lot easier to control.

I just set the rock against the glass and it crept onto it. The previous incarnation of my 29 gallon had the whole back of the tank covered in polyps.

I had a bunch of it growing on the glass. then I scraped off a sheet of it and laid in on a rock. A month later, it's attached to the rock. I guess we could sell frags of GSP by the square inch!
