Getting that color??

Ok so I am kind of ticked off. My few month old RO membrane and DI resign are already bad. Membrane was putting out 8 TDS and now it is putting out 26 TDS. The DI was putting out 0 TDS now it is 3 TDS.
 
You need to get some quality membrane and filters. Forget the Ebay stuff....get a set from SpectraPure.

Well I would call spectrapure then and tell them whats going on. I've had my spectrapure unit running since last november, TDS going in is a couple hundred, coming out the membrane is 0, and obviously 0 coming out the DI. I've probably run 2000+ gallons through it so far.

Unfortunately it's not always that simple...but yeah those are usually the causes. In my recent tank move, I had some corals brown out, while others go extremely light in color. In some cases the reaction depends on the particular coral.

I recently dosed a Zeovit product called Zeospur2. It causes the coral to expel extra zooxanthelle. In other words, makes brown corals normal again. You will find almost all accounts of using the product, the results happen literally overnight...usually 24-48 hours.

Overnight my browned out coral lost all of the brown. Since it had been mostly brown there wasn't much color left on it at all, just a little hint of green. So yes it was very pale when the dosing was done.

Make sure to use 1/4 of the dose, I used the full recommended dose and the results were too dramatic.

Since your corals have been so stubborn I would recommend this. If you choose this route, do research and apply extreme caution.

I would also recommend buying a high quality 20K bulb and use that. You're pics look super yellow.

I did, they are going to test the membrane to see if it is good.
I do run a high PAR 20K bulb, replaced every 6 months.

You never mentioned any other details on this...
What system do you have?
What was your incoming TDS then vs what it is now?
When was the last time you changed your carbon block?
Did you have a change in pressure?

These could all be factors as to what you're seeing.
 
SpectraPure 90gpd unit with add on DI. Incoming TDS is 475-500. Carbon and prefilters changed 6 months ago. Changing them again today. No change in incoming pressure. SpectraPure agrees that 3-4 months out of a membrane is way to short, they are going to test it for me. I think it went bad on me for some reason. After almost 2 years my last membrane was putting out 15 TDS I think, it is posted a few pages back.
 
My initial thought was degradation from chloramines but it sounds more like a faulty membrane. Those guys over there at Spectrapure will take care of you:)

Sarcophyton shouldn't be much of a problem as long as you're running carbon.

Idk, I had a membrane go bad after only a few months because of chloramine. After doing a little homework I decided to downsize from a 150gpd membrane to a 50gpd. I have low pressure (~45-50psi) and no pressure pump and that wasn't adequate for the 150gpd membrane. I've also replaced all of my carbon blocks with new ones that are designed to filter out chloramine. I'm back down to 0 TDS and my filters and di resin should last longer now.
 
I think I said that membrane pressure was 50-55psi I am a moron it is 80-85psi so plenty of water pressure. I just replaced my carbon block and TDS is still around 25 after the membrane. Taking my RO unit into SpectraPure tomorrow so I will know whats up then. I would be surprised if my membrane was damaged but chlorine or chloramine becuase I changed my carbon filter every 6-7 months.
 
its weird everyone has been having truble with ro units. i just change all my filter and membrain and im having truble now. is its a 75 gpd unit and it took me 2 day to fill up 32 gallon can...then im running 8 tds off the membrain and 3 tds after di.

psi is 45-50 psi
tds before unit is reading 100ish but ive tested it before and it read in the 20s

Holy cow, you get 80-85 psi! I get 40-45. I dont think 3tds is a problem, I consistently run more than that (at least according to my meter) and havent noticed any ill issues.

haha that what i said when i saw that...i only get 40s...but im about to try city water and see how much higher it is. he is lucky
