Getting to know Tucson reefers

Although I joined RC last year, I don't think I've ever introduced myself in this forum. I've been in the saltwater hobby for a few years now with my first tank being a Oceanic BioCube 29. Made a lot of mistakes with that tank and I eventually converted my freshwater 75 gallon to a FOWLR tank filtered poorly with a couple of Fluval canister filters. After that debacle, I drilled that same tank and installed an overflow system from Glass Holes, added a Sunpower ATI fixture and I was off and running with a reef tank. Decent results there, but wanted a cleaner look and with the great help from the guys at Fishy Bizness here in Tucson, set up my current DSA 105. Love that tank! Currently restocking with select fish and corals. I really like zoanthid colonies and am trying hard to make them grow out.

Tank is looking great!

I love the clean look of the DSA's!

Thanks Dan! I really appreciate you and your team's commitment to new reefers here in Tucson.
I hope I can keep this tank going long enough to have a mature tank! Patience grasshopper.

Hello, I too live in T town and am new to reef tanks. I have a used 90 gallon that has turned into a sps and lps w/ 6 fish and a fire shrimp. Running t5s now but thinking of buying my friends sols when the $$ builds up enough. I have found that everyone I have met in the hobby in Tucson is so nice and willing to help a nubie out with great advice. So glad I found this group in T. Looking forward to meeting some of you and swapping stories/advice.

I have two percula clowns, two yellow tail damsels, one black and white stripe damsel, one fox face, one blood shrimp and several hermit crabs and snails (nassarious and some other type)

I currently have several Kenya trees, one small red mushroom, four frags of various zoeanthids, one brain frag, one frag of flower pot, one red cap montipora, one acrapora frag that wife bought, cool little guy. Battling red cyano and hairy algae right now.

Hello Newsalth2o, I work for freeport in Sieritta. Been there 6 years. Loving the saltwater hobby, just takes patience I'm learning. I'm already wanting to upgrade to a 200 or 250, lol just so I can re-aqua-scape. This scape was done on a fast timeline due to the moving of the tank. Also had to use that rock wich is mostly coral looking/shaped rock, this equals hard to stack and scape. Thanks for the welcome.

Hi everyone :)

have been recently within the last few months been setting up salt water tanks. Unfortunately my brackish and salt water puffers think of them all as delicious blobs of color :)

When I transfer my baby puffer to my 60 gal, I think I'll have a 30 gal reef!

BTW Tucson reefers should ONLY shop at Fishy Bizness on speedway right after craycroft in the same shopping center as Something Sweet and The Humane Society Thrift shop. They have taught me so much. Never imagined I'd be successful. Love my puffies

Hi All,

My name is Cory and I'm a software developer at Tucson Electric Power. I've been researching saltwater tanks for several years waiting for the right opportunity. I'm currently building my first tank, 300g DT with a 60g sump.

Here's the current state of the tank. It needs some more sanding inside and then needs to be polished.
