GFCI tripping

I had no problem with my GFCI outlet until now. It tripped two nights in a row at around 2am. I didn't plug in anything new to the outlet so I don't know why it is tripping in the middle of the night. Any suggestions?
Can you recommend a good power backup unit? I was lucky I was home these two days but I need something just in case when I am out of town.
Thanks

Didier

You may have a heater trying to heat up and it is pulling too much current. The problem may be in the heater element or possibly the GFCI unit needs to be replaced.

I would replace it. They are prone to go bad, this may not be the cause but it's the first step I would take.
