GFO and Carbon

I was thinking of a club order of GFO (Granular ferric oxide) and Carbon from BRS. Do you folks use GFO or carbon? If so, which type of GRO and carbon do you use?

I was thinking of the HC GFO and the ROX carbon.

There is a group buy from BRS getting ready to start on 1/11. Check the Bulk Reef Supply forum area here on RC. Nice thing about BRS is that you don't have to do group buys the typical way where everything gets shipped together. People from all over the place just need to get on a list and your order will come directly to you just as if you bought it without a group buy.

However, I was thinking of ordering the GFO and carbon in large containers and splitting it up. This may not work, but thought I would put it out there. Maybe add Bulk Kalkwasser to the question.

Maybe you should order a sample first before you committ to a bucket.

I have some of the pelleted GFO and ROX carbon. Just put them both into a Life reef reactor. Went with the ROX because i read it was a better choice, due to hardness, to combine with GFO. [put a layer of carbon on bottom covered with a sponge, then the GFO]. How true this is , I have no idea. It's too soon to tell if the results are satisfactory.

I use the BRS pellet GFO in a reactor and the BRS ROX carbon. I have been happy with the results. Start out slow with the GFO and gradually increase the amount over time.

At the present time, I do not need any gfo or carbon. I would be interested in buying some Calcium or Magnesium from BRS - maybe buy a large amount and split it?
