gfo & carbon reactor questions

GFO was one of the best additions to my tank. I had hair algae and hard calcerous green algae by the sand bed. After about 3 weeks adding GFO, it was gone. I also used to have powdery green algae that grew on the glass and needed to be cleaned every 3 days. I probably only need to wipe the glass with magnet once or twice every two weeks now. Magic I tell ya!

Because phosphates, metals and silicate comes in with food and decay.

Bunch of good advice. I use brs carbon and gfo. I use them in seperate media bags nano or brs dual reactor in the 90. Kinda like salt and pepper for reefs. You dont need it. In moderation, almost all tanks work better. Go slow...
