GFO (think PhosBan) Bulk Order!!!

A big thanks to you guys for doing this! I was expecting a typical bulk order for my 20 pounds (like a bucket) and was delighted to find fully sealed 1 pound bags with an excellent label complete with instructions/warnings.
Steve even called me right after I left to tell me I gave him a $100 bill instead of a $20 by accident.

Seriously though, Steve and Mark did a bang up job with this - I will bring a bit more from the drum to the meeting for peeps who forgot to reserve theirs (or who would like more).

I had been feeding salmon scraps to my duncans and acans. Because of this heavy feeding, I was starting to get some green hair algae showing up in my tanks. Within 2 days of putting 1 cup of GFO into my filter sock, I noticed my hair algae turning brown. I switched after 3 days and it is rapidly dying off. All this time, I have been feeding the salmon pieces every other day to help speed the growth of my corals.
I have been testing with the API test kits, and have yet to see any readable result. Both before adding and after adding the GFO.
Nothing concrete here, but I believe I got most of my phosphates out of my tanks in the first three days and now, I am able to feed heavily and still see an obvious impact on my hair algae.

airin, the api phosphate test kit is not picking up any readable levels because the test kit is garbage. not saying u have any phosphates cause after that much gfo ur prob at zero or close to. at any rate u will never be able to tell for sure from the test kit ur using cause its worthless. i just say this out of frustration cause i have the same kit.

yeah, I made special mention of it because it is the only test kit I have for phosphates. It is basically useless. Unless you have crazy high levels it is never going to be of any use.
But it does come free with the API master reef or saltwater kit and so I have it anyways.
Sometimes you can just see the effect of using a product by the results you see in your tank.

For those of you who have not used GFO before and who may have high PhO4 levels, watch your alk. The result of removing the PhO4 can result in a lowering of your alk levels. Easy to adjust, just watch it.
