Development is ready, production has been started.

What is DALI?
The card PLM-DALI is able to control ballasts or other dimmable devices (e.g. transformers for halide lamps) with DALI. DALI is a digital bus interface, that means all devices are connected over just one twowire cable. The differentiation is achieved through different addresses.
Advantages over the 1-10V interface are mainly the much easier wiring and the complete shut-off at 0% (using a 1-10V-interface an external shut-off circuit is needed, e.g. EVG-AP).

Technical data
- Up to 50 devices can be connected to one PLM-DALI
- The devices can be divided into 16 groups, each group represents one ProfiLux illumination channel
- DALI-port is galvanically isolated

We will soon offer all our dimmable light bars with DALI as an option.

We have a shipment leaving Germany next week so if anyone wants one let me know asap (Monday)

Get looking now as they are on the way in a few weeks :)

This is what makes ProfiLux so great, while other controllers on the market are still working on launching 1-10V analogue dimming, GHL have already moved onto advanced digital Dali where the future of controlled ballasts really is.

Is there going to be an update to the software/firmware to support the extra 16 channels of illumination? Is it also going to support other features present in DALI controllers, such as the ability to assess lamp and ballast status?

There will be updates to the software to accomodate Dali interfacing - yes, I have no details at present further details will first appear on the support forum.

Dependant on exchange rate we hope they will come in to you at $149.00

Just out of curiosity, why is this going to cost us here in the US double over the Euro price?

59.00 EUR=78.2219 USD

Euro United States Dollars
1 EUR = 1.32579 USD 1 USD = 0.754265 EUR

:) you are forgetting Germany is not next door to North America :) and also we do not have the luxury of Euro pricing.

Ok lets get facts right here

We are the distributors who import direct from GHL.

We buy the products in Euros from canadian dollars NOT USD.

So the costs break down as follows

Distribution buy in cost from GHL In Euros
Exchange rate factor in from Euro to CAD
Cost of shipping (approx 15% per $1.00)
Cost of import duty (7% duty rate on electronics)
Distribution cost to dealer
Dealer cost to client.

The price quoted is a rough estimate based on NOT YET having the distribution buy in cost yet from GHL and not yet shipping them unable to factor true costs, once we have these figures I will give acurate MAP prices.

Based on current calculations the figure is now looking closer to $130.00

As i said above the figure quoted was based on not knowing our true buy in cost.

And as I found out today the price you see in Euro includes the German tax of 19%.

So based on new accurate figures from GHL the unit will be LESS than $100.

I think you will find that more favourable ;)

im still not 100% sure what this dali feature does. So will it be able to dim metal halide ballast, make cloud effects and sunrise/sunset? Or just improve the features for t5's?

In regards to MH lighting, if the ballast is dali compatible then yes.

For the other features, yes it will allow all this provided you are using dali dimmable ballasts.

I am in the process of setting up 2 dimmable T5's as supplemental lighting to my current AI lights (The spread of the AI units isn't quite enough for the width of my tank). I have purchased all the goodies except the GHL driver bit.

I have purchased a DALI and/or 1-10V compatible ballast (OSRAM - QTi DALI 2x28/54 DIM), and have the option of choosing either of these dimmable driver blanks.

Should I be going with a GHL DALI Driver or the Plain 1-10V Driver?
What are the benefits?
Has the DALI driver been implemented in the Profilux software yet?
Are the L Ports used to control the DALI driver?

Look forward to the reply.

Hi

I would go for the Dali, the expansion boards arrive here in 2 weeks. I do not see the point at this stage going with 1-10V when dali is the future.

In regards to software implementation GHL are having this ready in time for the release. But for more specific answer to date please post on the aquarium computer .com support forum ;)
