GHL doser 2 Standalone firmware issue.

Trying to install and the newest firmware and it fails.
I believe it has to do with the usb driver.

It was said you needed to have sbvcom as the driver.
My driver is GHL virtual communications driver port (com6)
With this driver I have control over the doser but I think it should be the other driver.

When I try to update the usb GHL virtual communications driver port (com6) driver like in the thread it tells me I have the latest driver.

I tried to delete the driver GHL virtual communications driver port (com6) and it gives me GHL Doser 3 with a yellow explanation point then. I try to up date the driver (using the directions in the thread) it tells me it cant find the driver.


I use windows 8.

I tried to log on the official forums and of coarse no email is sent to me to verify my account.

"GHL Virtual Communications port" is the driver used when you connect to the doser, it is separate from the USBVCOM driver. There is no need to uninstall this driver.

USBVCOM is only used for firmware updates. You just need to manually install this driver. The steps for doing this is mentioned on that thread, post #5.

When you get to step 2 of 5, you need to click on "Device Manager" and see what COM port number is assigned for the USBVCOM driver. If you don't see it listed, then you need to manually install it.

But I do not have a USBVCOM or a unknown device.

It is hard to install a driver when it has nothing to be installed too.

Got it to finally come up with unknown device and finally installed the driver.

I think it is a windows issue...

maybe you entered the wrong email address during registration so our forum was not able to send you the activation link? happens sometimes

however, I couldn't find any entries with "shred5"

Well from the pm you did find my account and the email is correct.
Who ever pm'ed me has replies disabled. So I am going to reply here.
I never got the verification email and it is not in my spam.
You can manually verify my account, I have another message board where I was nto getting emails and that is what they did.

Your email provider may be kicking it out as spam before it even gets to you.
I know ATT does this a lot to me so I end up having to use my gmail account, including for my Reef Central email notifications.

I use ATT.. I sure hope this does not happen when I set up myghl.
If ATT is blocking them it means they are on some blacklist some where or their host is.

Just set up a gmail account and add it to whatever email software you use. ATT blocks all kinds of emails for me. Pain in the butt.
I've been thinking of ditching them for email completely for years but too lazy to change everything over.

I do not want to set up another email especially one I will never use. I have all my stuff set to my email account. Since ATT this is only like my second place I do not get emails from. ATT is yahoo mail.

I rarely "use" gmail either but any gmails i get show up in the same place as my ATT emails.

Hopefully you get notification emails or whatever from myGHL.

No problem.. I appreciate the suggestion.
I really hate Gmail, my girlfriend uses it and it is a mess.
I like a pop3 account too.
Pretty much any account misses some mail anyway.
She misses some emails too with GMAIL.
It is the nature of the beast with email being unreliable.
I actually own my own email server and do not use it because some email servers are set up to block smaller servers that dont use a class C.
