GHL Mitras Club

The units are Wifi they just the adapter which is being released the first units will be launched in North America in about 6 weeks.

If you run these at 100% output you wont have much left of your corals ;) start at 30% and slowly work up, based on your tank size I would not go above 80%

Great the Wi-Fi will be a nice addition. Shame it can't just pair with your home network and control it without an adapter.

Strange it's visibly dimmer than my 2x250watt halides at 80% you're saying that over 80% would be too much even though it's noticeably dimmer?

Hiya
As with all LED units the signal sent is radio frequency this needs converting to Wifi, every LED on the market requires an adapter.

Mitras has a power more equivalent to 400w what makes it look dimmer is the colour temperature you employ.

click 100% output in the composer and click output to lamp, then you will see. ;)

I have to say this is the light I've been looking for since I started the hobby.
To be able to tailor the color to my personal preference is just what I was looking for.
Time will tell if my corals like it as much as I do but so far it's perfect.
Guess I'm a 12k guy. Always thought I was more 14k but 12k is perfect.

I really like that I can run some of the uglier colors when I'm not home to give the livestock some more of the lower K something you just can't do unless you run multiple lights on multiple timers.

Just a quick Fyi for everyone.

Although not overly important with GHL based on their reliability :) But we do get asked from time to time what the warranty period is on a Mitras

The warranty is 2 years and the units are self service, you can download a guide from the GHL download section on the website.

Does anyone have program for 6100 please? I'm clueless in setting the right spectrum for my tank. Thanks in advance.

load a default of 14k and then set the composer to output directly to the lamp, if you want then just adjust the sliders to suit your personal eye. when you are happy press the right arrow to save the template for future use.

The setup wasn't to bad I basically took the default profile and opened each step slid over the 12k preset and then saved and updated the light.
If you click the output to lite checkmark when setting it up you'll see the color as you change it.

Here's a decent youtube on setting up the software.

Fun light I can't wait for the Wi-Fi adapter I must have used the usb cable 10 times already this week trying new things with the light.

If you're still having trouble after watching the video I'll upload my config when I get home from work.

Hi Michael

Any chance to make the light composer window bigger so we can see all the programmed times and settings instead of having to scroll through. It would make balancing the same settings in the later half of the day easier.

Also, as I am sure that most people would have the same profile in the second half of the day, just in reverse, have an option where you could program the first half of the day and the software could automatically program the second half with the same times and colour temperatures but just in reverse order.

Clear as mud?

Cheers

Does the power options max intensity setting need to be changed from the software or can I just use the lamp interface? If I do that will the intensity settings will always be saved even after power goes out?

everything is saved when power goes out, yep you can change everything from lamp and software.

I have to say that there is something I am noticing in every picture that a lot of people seem to miss about the Mitras. Maybe it's because as a photographer I am constantly looking at light and it's varying qualities.
The big thing I see with other LED units is the extreme contrast between lit surfaces and those in shadow. With the Mitras the light seems to be a lot more diffuse and you get a lot more bounce so the bottoms of surfaces receive a fair amount of light as well.
This is an extremely important point, and what puts the Mitras on top of my reef tank LED fixture wish list. Besides the Mitras I only think hybrid fixtures aim for the same result (thanks to their T5 tubes). Let's hope more manufacturers will follow.

(Fresh water tanks are completely different, there it can sometimes look nice with the contrast created by spotlights.)

Glad to see this has been seen by yet another independent eye. I can talk all I want about this point but its way more important when totally unbiased end users find it.

The clue in the technical reason for this is reflectors the GHL use (not optics) these took two years of development alone in conjunction with a lighting research lab in Germany.

One very respected source told me personally that they saw the Mitras as the only lamp they had used which did exactly what an LED should do.

thanks for this really important feedback guys.

Does anyone have lighting programs for the LX 6200 HV? might be easier to load a program already done instead of taking the chance on stressing my clams and corals.
