Giant Pelvic fins on Purple Tang

I just got this Red Sea Purple Tang and this guy has some massive pelvic fins. I have had purples in the past but have never seen pelvic fins like this on any others. These pics are ok but don't really show just how big they are. He measures about 2.5 inches from tip of the nose to the end of his tail.

Just bought one today and looks so different then my other purple

where did you get him from? another reefer? might be the result of him growing in a small tank and had growth stun.

Ime those pelvic fins are normally sized for a small purple... I actually find on larger specimens I've received it's not unusual for the pelvic fins to be shorter than normal or stubs due to lack of care/space/nutrition from their previous owners, almost like fin rot in yellow tangs.

I just got him Saturday from a store and he had just arrived there from the distributor and prior to that supposedly the red sea.
