Gig vs haddoni

Background: My mixed reef 125 has become anemone dominate. I have 4 large bubbletips, 2 medium/large haddoni, and a medium gig. All are healthy and have been in my tank a minimum of one year together.

3 days ago the larger of the two haddoni decided to make a trek across the front of the tank and yesterday ended up just beneath the gig. The gig has his foot anchored on a rock and the haddoni is attached to the bottom of the tank. This part of the tank has very little sand.

The two anemones were nearly touching at the end of the day yesterday. The anemone crab had left the haddoni and was now hosted by the gig. The tomato clownfish, who lives in the gig was fighting with the crab who had his dukes up. When I went to bed I had no idea how things would stand in the morning.

As it stands tonight, the clown and the crab seem to be at peace with one another. The crab happily goes between the two anemones. The haddoni is spread out large under the gig with his skirt touching the foot of the gig. The gig has not moved and has part of his skirt laying on the haddoni. Neither seems bothered by the other. They are like a strange married couple.

I kept expecting to observe some ominous reason for me to intervene but so far so good. I'll post pictures tomorrow.

Haddoni and gigs can touch each other no issue. let the carpets decide for themselves where they want to stay, especially the haddoni. if you move it, and if its not happy, it will move again. i would let it pick its spot and re-aquascape around it.

Way cool!

I like the possibilities of the two species sharing a tank and inhabited by the clowns they host...assuming they can get along...

In the long run would chemical warfare become a issue between gigantea and haddoni in the same confines, I'll assume not that they can overlap one another but don't know?

Oh no! He just marched on past the gig and has found his happy spot in the tank. Not a location I would have preferred but he's content.
