Gigantea:Cloned

I'm not going to say much but this... As per texting you know where I was going with it. I'm not here to get an extra gig as we all know what the going rate is for these animals wholesale wise. You made double if not triple and you didn't have to QT them. I felt like I got cheated as these gigs are harder too keep with full columns and to put stress like slicing them makes it worst. This is a death sentence but I'm going to be optimistic about it but so far it doesn't look too good even with cipro. Cipro to me helps in pathogen but not wounds or slice up animals trying to recover. As of now there are three death counts 2 blues and a purple. I wish I was told this before making a big purchase. You know what needs to be done if I was in your shoes it would already been done so even if one didn't know about the cloning/slicing involved that's just great customer service in my eyes.
Look i like to think i Know Ben kinda well. As i have been dealing with him for many things and he is a stand up Guy and will make things right with you . This i know from first hand Experience . we had a long talk yesterday about how he is going to do his part in helping Gigs he has the right frame of mind and is learning . just my 0.02

+1

I have bought couple gigs from Ben and he is a stand up guy. I am sure he will work with you on this.

Wow, I cant believe (well maybe I can) what I just read. I guess it goes to show you that there are people in just about every industry that will try and get one over on you. Im not implying that the local fish store tried to get one over on you at all here. But it also sounds like some more education needs to be gained from the person who is accepting the livestock at the store. Way back in the day, I used to work at a fish store and we had knowledgable people working there but one person who had the most knowledge was in charge of the acceptance and acclimating of the livestock. This one person often went to the distributor as well to cherry pick coral and livestock. Im not saying the lfs needs to go cherry pick his order, im saying the owner needs to be vigilant and the distributor sending good quality livestock and coral. They need to challenge the distributor and let them know they are not going to accept garbage. My friend had to do this many, many, many times. The distributor will learn, and sometimes it takes going to another distributor, which the store I worked for did many times. Its a chain reaction that will take time, but it can have results. Its funny though that when I go back to that store, the quality of the livestock and coral have gone down. Also the level of service and knowledge seems to have gone down as well. I attribute that to cheap inexperienced labor.
Again I am so sorry this happened to you. I want to thank you for sharing this experience. It does give me some more knowledge about which questions to ask and what to look for, especially when (if I ever) purchase a gig from the internet.

Ok as of Friday night march 15 2013... I lost two more gigs. Seems like they are not healing and enclosing the scar. Scar is still visible. I will post video ASAP.

And yes to all who has dealt with Ben... Lets hope he will be anble to take care of this. Will also keep y'all posted on either situation.

I am really sorry to hear this. I hope your other 3 Gigantea (plus your original Gigantea) will do well. Good luck.

I have received several Gigs (5) from Ben as well. They are indeed showing signs of being cut. I've lost 4 of the 5 so far and even lost my personal prized blue one that was beautiful until infected by one of these 5. Granted I have only paid for one and additional shipping once, still have the one I'm treating, but it is a green one that I never wanted and certainly doesn't take the place of my blue one :(. Ben has been good to work with, but these are just being shipped out to die because of the double hit they are taking. (Shipping stress and being cut). I would never have bought one if I knew I'd be going through all this !! UGH !! Hopefully I can get this green one healthy and sell it locally and eventually find another blue or purple one....oh well live and learn !!

Wow
I guess I wasn't the only guy who bought multiple gigs here. You are right these guys have a double edged sword. I sent Ben a video last night regarding the last two deaths and still waiting on his response. Not sure on what to do next I surely don't want to have wasted my hard earned money on sliced/cloned gig if I have known.

Really sorry to hear this news. I was looking forward to following your tank thread.

How many do you have left. Do any of the ones still alive appear to have been cut?

I have two better looking gigs not necessarily healthy and one green flappy dying gig. I think if I would of received them as original gigs and not cloned/propagated gigs we all might have a chance to see if any babies in the future. I am hoping Ben will take care of this and ship some replacement but we will see. Right now I feel so bummed out with all this mess/headaches. But will keep y'all posted

If anyone wants the yellow one I have left, once it's healthy and heals I'll sell it. Never wanted a yellow one but it's the only one that survived out of 6 total...so far. Ugh !

I read the thread, but I only saw Mihn say that the gigs were treated, so I'm a bit unclear about yours Nemoboy... I'm sorry if I blew over it... Sorry about your gigs, I know how it feels.

Nemoboy, did you do a treatment with cipro for all 10 new arrivals? If so, can you elaborate on the process you put them through please? :) This stuff appears to be a possibility of being a real game changer for the keeping of gigs.

I've dealt with numerous people who have shipped gigs to me... Then death... They all say the same to me too, but I look at tanks and wallet, and see the reality... only one vendor sticks out, LA atleast refunds you the loss...
Nemoboy, I wish you luck, and hope you get better treatment from your supplier than I have had in the past... keep us updated please.

gigas

gigas

I seen them yesterday they are nice and looking good with there treatment of cipro

Yea I hope they do good in shipping They stopped spitting black stuff 2 days ago and their poop is stringy which is the best news I think. Mouth is tight. Shipping seems to be the biggest killer. I hope I find a solution soon been trying different things.

They are hard man. I'll try to find a solution soon.

So other than "Bali", I haven't seen the source of these sliced anemones mentioned. When the time comes for me to get the blue gig in my life, I will have to order sight unseen. Gigs are difficult enough without having gone through the nem-o-matic machine. I would like to be able to detail where it should not come from.
