Thank you all!
I was extremely lucky to inherit the merten and the carpet from a local reefer who is breaking down her tank. Both of these specimens came from Divers Den previously and they have been kept in captivity for the last couple years. They are still adjusting to my tank and I expect them to move around a little until they find their sweet spots.
The merten has moved up to the rock where the gig has been staying for the last 9 months. I was surprised that they don’t sting each other. Under 10k, the tentacles are brownish/pinkish, with yellow tips. Under bluer light, the tentacles are blue with orange tips.
The red carpet anchored its self through a hollow rock and part of its foot is in the sand. It hosted a pair of bonded anemone crabs. The crabs are big and I hope they don’t stress out the carpet.
I also have a neon green gig, a purple malu and a red malu. I haven’t seen any reactions from these guys upon introducing the merten and the carpet to the system.
Also a quick update on my purple gig to those who follow the status of the 3 gigs that Minh, Dave and myself bought them on 06/25/14: It seems to be doing very well for 3-5 days then all the sudden it deflated, but then the next day it perks up and seems to do well again. Personally I am starting to lose hope on it; but will continue to treat it.
Thank you for your tips and advices. I will keep you guys posted.
Chris
