Gigas problem

Update: so far so good. that was a close call. Not 100% recovered but a lot better. Thank you for all the help, it seems that the problem was the anemone.

sweet that is awsome, I'm happy for you and the clam. Mine is about 5years old now and over16" I've noticed when I remove some of my bigger fish that the clams color lightens. Ibelieve that the gigas is a great cleaner. Good luck to you

Well it looks 100% recovered :), looking back at the pictures looked pretty bad.

Man this thread was scarier then a Steven King movie, I have the same clam and I would freak too if this happened to me, I'm glad this story had a happy ending. :)

cristhiam, Not wanting to hijack your thread here (also happy to see that your clam is on the mend), but I have a question for mbbuna.

mbbuna, if you don't mind me asking, where were you going with the suggestion to remove the denitrator? Are you thinking sulfur contamination of some sort?

Thanks

I think it was more than a fast drop in the nitrates could affect the clam, I think. I had a problem with nitrates 80+/-ppm, and now it's 0, of course it took several months. I did not take it off line at this time because it took 4 to 5 months to start working. My denitrator is a DYI.
