i got a gigas for my b-day 2 weeks ago. it's been at the bottom of my tank (135) since then. i have about a 2" sb. however, i cannot get the clam to stay upright. anyone have any suggestions on securing it in the sb? i don't want to place it in the rock work just yet b/c i intend on redoing my aquascaping.

so far, the clam is doing great under the mh, but it is always lying on it's side. some suggestions would be great.

Maybe mound the sand up a little on each side so that he stays upright. I wouldnt put him up in the rockwork, these are lower light clams and perfer the sand in the wild,

do i secure it at all, or just let him do it by himself? also, if i do that, should i shut down my ph's to minimize the flow?

i currently have 2 modded mj900's and 2 additional mj900s on a wavemaker running

It will most likely attach itself to a rock. Try setting a small rock under it or next to its byssal opening. its foot will probably come out and attach to the rock.

a half shell shoud work too, mine attached to the shell in a week, the clam it use to be around 3.5" and it let go the shell at aroun 5" now the clam is abot 9-10" it does't need it anymore

i moved a small piece of lr right by the foot. hopefully it'll attach, then i can sink the rock in the sand. thanks everyone.
