Worm I put some bad rocks in the sump and almost crashed the tank! Lost some spa I hope they make a come back!

We now have a 29 gallon bio cube that I won at work that I have been playing with.

It's going to be my ZOA garden. I used black sand so anything really bright colored will pop.

Things have been going well. Hubby is working on setting up a 120 FOWLR upstairs...so we've been working on various projects. I work for an accounting firm, so this is of course my crazy busy season (which ends TODAY thank gawd!).
We had a weird couple of weeks about three months ago...the water was hazy and I noticed that my xenia were behaving weird. They were INCREDIABLY unhappy and I use them as the indicator that something is off on the water quality. We ran some tests, and had a significant increase in ammonia. I have NO clue where it came from or what was causing it. All the coral, and fish were accounted for, and we had not added anything to the tank at that point. There was absolutely NO explanation for the spike. Three major water changes later over the course of a week and a half, the tank cleared up, the water quality was spot on and everything was happy. I lost nearly all my xenia in the process, but it's making a comeback now. Also, the clowns laid their first batch of eggs last week since we first set up the tank back last year. So now I know we are back where we are supposed to be. We've added a second MP40, but are still having a problem with stagnant spots around the base of the rock sections on the sandbed. Not sure if the tank is just fluctuating after the 'reset' from the massive water changes we had made or not. I know we need to ease up on the feeding. We are feeding too much I know but these guys require a lot of calories...LOL.
The latest addition to the tank was the powder blue. We purchased him fairly large to offset the two clowns and the tomini. I knew they would be a bit of a ruckas getting them to settle down. Apparently there was an all out brawl one day while I wasn't paying attention. Spot (my female clown) had a large gash under her left eye, and the Powder Blue had a puncture on his side. I was worried that Spot would lose her eye over it, but it healed nicely, as did the Powder Blue. As neurotic as the powder blue behaved at first (he paced the tank and did circles around the mag float) I worried because he wasn't eating prepared foods. He would peck, and eat algae, but refused any and all types of frozen mix, pellets, flakes or live food. About two weeks in I finally started seeing him munch. Now he's as bad as the rest of them. LOL
Our most recent issue is the temp on the tank. It's been spiking to rather significantly high levels. I need to buy a second independent temp gauge to see if it's the Apex probe that's gone wonky. We've picked up a coral or two here or there. Hubby and I are going to take a road trip this Saturday to some stores up around the Richmond area to see if there is anything interesting we can add. The next planned trip will be up around DC to do some shop looking. I'll see if we can spend some time tomorrow taking some pictures of some of the most recent corals we've added. More up close shots.
