Glass cages yes or no

I have 2 large tanks from Glasscages, 1 that is an island tank, 240 gals with overflows on the two ends that has been up and running for 7 years, and have never had a problem. The other is a 300 gal with overflows and no problems. Both tanks have drilled bottoms and they are built like a tank. For the money I could overlook minor imperfections and trim the sloppy silicon joints,(neither of my tanks had that problem). It's something your going to have to decide.

Dang I really wouldn't care if the silicon was bad but I can't have an explosion I might get one and fill it very very slowly soot doesn't shock the tank tanks for the help.

Most have at least an acceptable to good experience with them. However, they do seem to have a higher than normal poor experiences. These range from rude customer service to tank failures. Any tank can fail, just research for first hand experiences here and on the web.

Here is a non biased fact I have a small saltwater store and they supplied all my aquariums for it from the rimless coral tanks which are center drilled 4x4x11in shallow tanks super sloppy I mean super sloppy silicon work. I basically razor bladed the entire tanks it was everywhere. And the 20 plus random sized black framed aquariums drilled to be my own fish rack systems. Some leaked and were replaced. All silicon work is rediculous. The black frames are barely secured like hanging on by a drop of silicone. The only thing they did right was drill in the proper area. Now customer service is Boris to say the least. Its truly a circle jerk. If I would call for a qoute or to order the owners are in if I had a problem there out with a customer or vacation or whatever the excuse may be. So I was desperate for a tank and needed it fast and they gave me a price on two from there outlet store when I call back I'm told no we will make you one and I say OK as long as I have it by the weekend and it will be OK to use the following weekend "which I know it might barely be cured " she assures me no worries and tells me the price I agree she calls next day its on truck for delivery. Following day I get the call I drive out to get it and its not even there they didn't even put it on the truck but I was assured and told that she watched them load it. I get all call from my brother wanting to know why they over drawn from our business account and I'm like what? So I get ahold of them and there bosses are out convieniantly so I wait til Monday still no call back from the owners only relaying messages between there lackies and they tell me the owner refunded my money but they didn't the charged me again. So now I'm double charged for no reason besides negligence and stupidity. So yes glasscages is a cheap made poorly manufactored aquarium shop. With horrible customer service and there products match there attitude. Honestly if I would ever need a aquarium cheap or fast I would rather goto the local pet store and pay full price before I would buy from them again. No I'm not bashing I'm giving a true experience. With proof behind it

I've heard miracles makes a great tank...and is not that far off from glass cages. The shipping is the number one complain ( they r in canada) but their customer service( according to actual owners) is second to none....I'm getting my large tank from them.....but not until I move to a larger home.
We invest thousands and thousands into our tanks and look for cheap deals with our glass tank....the actual thing that holds everything together.

I just bought a glass cages 240g rimless, and was pretty happy with the experience. The silicone job is great, just one little dollop that I removed with a razor blade. The tank was recently built, and came with several warnings not to put water in for 30days. A reasonable request as I am not in a hurry. It would have been better had they told me that when I ordered. Customer service is lacking, and there were some issues with delivery, but the product is exactly what I wanted and expected. Obviously I cannot comment on the integrity of the tank since it is so new.

Go with Lee-Mar if you can. My 225g is pefect. Amazing build. Good luck finding any silicone anywhere.

A few years back, I custom ordered a tank ( 160 gallon ) with Staphire glass, center overflow, stand and canopy from Glass cages out of Nashville Tenn. I picked it up in Daytona Florida, beautiful tank, great customer service, no problems in any area....tough to hear anyone had problems with them, was not my expeirence.

I was going to get a 240, but after looking at glass cages price I might get the 500 gallon because it's not to much more that the acrylic tank I was looking at on fishtanks direct.

As with anything, seriously consider reviews and advise from people that only have first hand experience with a product. Any posts that start with "I heard" or " I don't own one but..." are usually discarded by me.

I owned a 100 gallon frag tank that was built by them a few years ago back when there were more negative review of their work and loved it. It was built well but did have some sloppy silicone work. For the money, they can not be beat.

Ok thanks I am going to look at first hand reviews only. I just don't want 500 gallons of water on my floor. I don't really care if the silicon is messy I cam fix that. I might order it and wait 60 days be fore I put water in it and then when I do I'll slowlly put it in.

Research whats the most safe glass thickness for the size you want and request a quote from them with specifics like glass thickness, rimless or eurobrace, etc. Sometimes the get annoyed when you ask for this and not go with their standard. After that compare prices and decide from there.
When I was researching to get a tank, I noticed that some of the larger tanks that cracked had a glass thickness that should be ok but it was not considered the safest and/or homemade stands. For a 500g tank I would want it overbuilt. Also, you want a professionally built stand, this make a huge difference in the tank's longevity; remember the tank weight, you need the equipment or a lot of friends to move a glass tank this size.

I bought this acyrlic 240 for $1550 plus shipping. It's reef ready with a black rear panel. The guy makes really nice tanks. All the corners and cut outs are rounded. He will custom build anything you want. It's called Midwest custom aquarium

I ordered a glass frag tank from Glasscages and it had heavy, thick silicone seams and no mess. It's actually perfect. Exactly what I wanted.

I am looking for 72" x 36" x27 300g
If marineland doesn't give me too much trouble to do eurobracing and one overflow on one end, I'll go with them, if they do......miracles in glass will get the build......wonder if leemar will ship to south Texas ???......
