Acrylic, doesn't leak over time (most times) , scratches can be fixed, insulates heat/cold better, lighter and easier to move when you need to, and flexes without shattering in an earthquake.
Up to about 180, glass all the way (starphire if you're rollin 5 deep, big pimpin, sippin a kris and stone cold rhymin). Scratched acrylic looks way worse than 1/2" thick glass even with it's "impurities"!
Over about 150-180 glass just gets too heavy.
My only worry with glass is the rockwork. Make extra sure there are no loose rocks that can fall from the top of the rock pile and crash into a side pane of glass!
i like acrylic better... ask golan.. he was deas set on glass but now has a 180 acrylic.. there are soo many more options with acrylic... you can put holes anywhere its clearer not to mention cost... acrylic gets cheaper the larger you go...
I have all acrylics but I hate acrylic for saltwater. It does insulate better, doesn't leak, and I can drill it anywhere anytime, but it scratches if you look at it funny, and some of the tanks are coming up on 10 years old and have tons of crazing and tiny cracks everywhere.
Note to mods: I am in no way of promoting my business, just i have the perfect answer and real-life input on this.
