. you can put holes anywhere ...

last I checked you could put holes anywhere on a glass tank:rolleyes:

FWIW... I put a Tunze wavebox in a 180g glass tank and started to see a little bit of seeping, it stopped when I removed the Wavebox. Tunze says the wavebox will weaken the tank by 10-15%.

I currently have a 3/4" acrylic 180r on order at SoCal.

Best,
Doug

Cant we all agree that its "just personal preference" ? They both have the plus's and minus's...

only when the tank is being made.. and if its tempered glass no holes... i can easly drain m1/2 my tank get a hole saw and make a closed loop.. try doing that with glass...

i have a 60 gal GLASS in my living room that i sold off to my roommate and my 100 gall ACRYLIC in my room... the reason i started the post is... my old 60 gal (after i cleaned it!) is about %50-%60 more clear over the acrylic... im considering switching back to glass... or maybe i beed to just bring my 100 gal down and buff and pollish out all the minor scratches... i know from what i heard that the buffing can be done w/ water in the tank... but im going for %100 improvement here... it is irritating me that the 60 gal i pretty much gave away is more clear then my "SO-CALLED" UPGRADE!

anyone else been in this position before?

Note to mods: I am in no way of promoting my business, just i have the perfect answer and real-life input on this.

For those of you who know where my store is. Come by I have an acrylic 180 (Clear for life) and a Starphire 180 (3sided Lee-Mar) back to back on display. From what all my customers have been telling me Acrylic is clearer and I do concurr also. Anyone is welcomed to come by and check it out.

I've been to your store and would have to agree that the Acrylic was noticably clearer than the Starfire tank.

As for deciding which way to go....To me it's purely based on personal preference and imo the pro's and cons for each route are just about even. There's just about a Con to each Pro and a Pro to each Con when comparing the two. IMO, answering to which one is better would just be unfair.

My preference is Acrylic.
