I like glass tanks because they are less likely to get scratched and are easier to keep clean. The acrylic's are much lighter....easier to move when you upgrade to a glass tank :)

I've never had acrylic, but in theory I like acrylic more.

It's clarity is awesome, it's super light, I have more confidence in bent corners or fused seams than silicone and my understanding is acrylic won't shatter like glass if it gets bumped into.

The cons are that it scratches easily and is more expensive. Someday I'll have acrylic!

Acrylic tends to crack over time especially if you run M/H lighting and I have only seen one acrylic tank that looked great.......Majestic's show tank all others had some sort of scratches. It is the very tiny ones that cloud viewing. I am very anal when it comes to clearity and do not want to spend hours to clean the viewing panels. If they where not so easy to scratch, keep clean and inexpensive I might think different.

I prefer acrylic in anything over 180 gallons because of the strength of the tank. Smaller reef tanks I would probably go for glass. I really do love the clarity and the true colors you see from acrylic, but it does scratch. I've had some success buffing out the small scratches.

Your vote does not count becuase you bought my old Acrylic tank :)

Serving me well so far :) I think I should get 1 vote for each tank I have set up right now . And just to note that all of my tanks are acrylic except a small 10 gallon.

Glad the tank is working out for you.......If we gave you a vote for each tank you had the acrylic count would be up 76 :fun4:

im saying glass all they way. starfire is worth it. and being able to scrape your tank without a really risking a scratch ( not saying you cant scratch glass) is worth it. and acrylic after its been buffed on a deep scratch never looks the same.

i agree with killa on the cleaner neater look of the acrylic edges/seams etc. although id hate to accidentally scratch mine! (something i can see myself doing haha)

and killa after visiting your place your tank is a beast! lol huuge and very nicely aquascaped.
