Glass is the only way to go!!!! Coraline algae and acrylic don't mix...5yrs experiance trying not to scratch acrylic...

So how much truth is there to Coraline Algae being a serious problem with acrylic tanks, which requires daily cleaning of the viweing surfaces?

Any/all personal experiences appreciated?

coralline Algae maybe alittle worst on acrylic tanks.. But I
don't believe you would notice it being worst from glass....
one thing is if you notice everyonce in a while you see a
post that say's help tank leaking!!!! it's never a acrylic
tank..... acrylic tanks last forever and hold their resale
value too.... ask someone that lives in CA what kind of tank
they have because of earthquakes...

In the event anyone was curious, I foinally made my decision and purchased a low iron (starphire) 72" x 24" x 31" (230 gal) glass tank.

Thanks to everyone for sharing their opinions regarding this matter. I am happy to have the decision behind me. Fortutnately, I beleive (hope) the rest of my decisions will not be as painstaking. I have a farily clear idea of what I wish to do, base on my experience in the hobby. The only exception is lighting, but that is a subject for another day.

Thanks again, Keith

I wonder how many people who voted have only owned either glass or acrylic, and not both. I'd guess that many voted for one without having owned the other. Just a thought...
