Any of you guys or gals have a tank from glasscages?

I have heard good things bad things

I think I am gonna have them build my new tank...since I am offically tankless for the first time in almost 4yrs.

I want a 50 breeder with starfire front glass...do you think they would be a good choice for building this?

my 29 build tank came from them....for what they cost, they are good tanks.

are there cheaper?? not really
can they be a pain in the *** to deal w/ on the phone?? sometimes...especially if you are a "looky-loo" when you call & have no idea what you want, but i've always had a pleasant dealing w/ them both on the phone & in person

another good one is Ocea Aquariums. they were at our frag swap back in jan & had some very nice stuff at very good prices. their website is being rebuilt but they have a form for quotes....give 'em a shout on what you want

lets just say this mike....there are tons of happy customers...otherwise they wouldnt be in business making massive amounts of them everyday..........only the people with bad experiences are willing to sit here and write negative reviews about them

I would definantly get a glass holes overflow. I have a 50 tall starfire 36*18 footprint and the overflow takes up quite a bit of the tank. If I could go back I would not use the glass cages overflow.

I was actually gonna use a glass holes overflow and drill it myself.

Ocea will also do external overflows, I got a nice quote price from them with external overflows.

I was also considering that as an option too...but I have never dealt with external overflows before....I am researching them tho.....any body got a number for OCEA..I may just call them.

I was looking at glasscages and the measurements for the 50 breeder are off...36x18x17 is only 47g's...needs to be 36x18x18..for the full 50g's...yes I am being picky...if i was to go the 36x18x17 with the starfire front from them I would be roughly $180 shipped to louisville,ky then I could pick it.

For small(ish) tanks, I guarantee the overflow is going to be very restrictive... unless they've redesigned them in the last year or so.

When CKReef picked up his cube from glasscages, he had checked on the size and the overflow in his was going to be the same size as the overflows in my 270 (which is not huge on that tank, but takes up a lot of space in such a small tank). I would use the glassholes overflow as well. Just have GC drill the tank for you if they will (doesn't cost much and puts the liability of breaking the tank on them).

I have a Glasscages tank and have had absolutely 0 problems with it. I love the Starphire!

FWIW. I would also make the tank taller. I thought I wanted my tank short so it would be easier to work on but it turns out that a deeper tank would suit my corals better. Some corals just like deeper water and there is also not much room for sps to grow upward. My next tank will be at least 20" deep maybe as much as 23". Any more than that and it gets hard to reach the bottom.

do what i did, i showed up with my dad with his chevy dulley and a hand full of hundreds, we got a tour of the facility and all of there animals. very nice people

they loaded my 90 gallon, stand and canopy in the truck and we were on our way. now my next stand and canopy might be from ocea as i like how they look
