Hello fellow reefers,

I decided to put my tank up here to share with you in the hopes that it becomes a successful effort.
My last tank gave me a lot of pleasure to look at but in the end I got distracted and let it slip away.
I grew that tank from frags, it ran for three years under LED lights.
A lot of experimentation and left of centre concepts were trialled out.
With that knowledge gained I might not practice those ideas on this tank and I'll start with the basics and keep it simple this time.
I'll use the old tank and stand for now, same skimmer, same calcium reactor.
New equipment will be the next size up Tunze powerheads and new lighting.

Let me show off my old tank to motivate me to better it this time round.
See you here shortly with progress of my new 50 gallon reef.

Beautiful tank! Awesome colors, did you use a carbon source? What exactly happened when you let it slip away?

I used Zeovit for the first year and a half , then moved to liquid phosphate binders until the end. During liquid phosphate binder phase which lasted just over one and a half years I did not feed my coral or use suppliments but relied on regular weekly water changes to maintain colours.

Where I let it slip was when I did not keep up water changes, had a bout of hot weather with no chiller causing RTN, the final incident was forgetting to turn the calcium reactor back on after it was making a loud noise in the night.

These incidents did not affect any LPS or zoas , unfortunately by this stage I was ready to pack it in.

So here is a clean slate and fresh start.
