Glue and seal starboard, or not?

I would like to have more opinions of this as I just ordered a piece of custom starboard and would like to see how much detritus gets caught underneath. I was also thinking about siliconing the sides as well, since you could easily cut it out if you wanted to actually remove the starboard.

I will be creating a faux sandbed by using the starboard I get, and people are using epoxy to glue the sand down. I guess you could epoxy the sides which would securely hold the starboard in place, however you would never be able to remove it. If you were to do this, then there would be no point in having starboard and might as well dump the sand/epoxy mix right onto the glass.

With the method I used there is still very little of anything under the starboard bottom.

I went glass only also... it is cleaner and does not trap detritus..... starboard is just another detritus trap.... eventually your seals will give and muck will work its way under the set up.... no way to remove it unless you tear the reef down.. my glass bottom is almost completely coralline algae.. pink, and it is very natural looking!!

I like the look of the clean glass bottom the best also, but wanted starboard as a cushion in case of an avalanche

Could you imagine the disappointment of watching the bottom drop out of your tank?
Glass bottoms covered in coralline do look good, though.
