The side if my tank cracked by the bulkhead. I use the tank for a sump and frag tank..55 gallon
Is it possible to use acrylic in place of the glass, I have some 3/8 just not sure if silicon would bond..
Silicone doesn't provide a good enough bond to acrylic to hold water. I would recommend replacing the panel, replacing the tank, or just drilling a larger hole and using a larger bulkhead (if the crack isn't too large).
my sump cracked and i put a small piece of acrylic on the inside of that side that it cracked on and i made sure it had an even ammount of silicone between the glass and the acrylic plate. after it dried it seriously stayed that way permanently.
if the crack is on the display or somewhere visible this is an ugly fix and itll look bad but if its somewhere you wont care and its a small crack in a corner somewhere its in my opinnion a perfect simple solution
thanks, going to look for a new tank. The tank had a small crack, I kinda let it go...lesson learned. Water was pouring out, but caught in time, did not loose any frags..just a very wet floor.
