Gobies

Can you keep gobies such as jawfish, yellow watchman gobies or firefish in pairs or small groups? If so do you have to buy them all at once? If anybody has experience let me know.

You can keep those fish as pairs or two females but not two males. Firefish sometimes live together but they jump out a lot.
These bred for me for 12 years. But if I would add another male, it would be killed.

Is there any way to tell if you are getting a pair or females? or did you have to buy them as a pair? that is awesome that they bred for that long. I hope to have half the success you have had with yours.

You can tell if you see a tank full of them, the males will be fighting and the females will be ignoring them. Besides that, they look the same to me.

They are about 10 years old here
