I picked up this little guy last night, sold as a "yellow watchman goby"

It does look identical, except instead of yellow, its mostly greyish white with smoky darker vertical bands towards the back end, has the same blue spots, and all the fins that it sits on are irridescent blue.
I know its a type of Goby...any one know what kind ?

Do believe it is a yellow watchman, believe some if not all will eventually change to that coloration. I could be wrong though ;)

It's a color variation of yellow watchman. They can change between this white coloration and the more commonly seen yellow color. Nobody is sure why... it isn't a male/female thing...

I was doing a few searches (naturally after I posted this question) and found some places listing a bluespotted watchman goby...pics look very similar to mine, so I'm guessing thats what it is. :-)

Def a YWG i had a "mated pair" for 9 years when they were around 3" long they changed that color...stayed that way for almost 2yrs. Then out of nowhere turned bright yellow again. personally i think it might be a teenager type stage.

Here are some pictures of my YWG, I bought him as white and he turned yellow several months later. These pictures are of the same fish (same individual) several months apart. I bought him because he was something cool and different and then he turned into the most common shimp goby there is

I have a Bluespotted and it's a little different than yours. See the pattern on the upper fin. Mine was yellow when I bought it and it quickly changed to sand color and hasn't reverted back. Here's a general photo of a Bluespotted:

As others have said, it's probably a typical Yellow Watchman Goby.
