Goby Quarantine

If I were to get a bonded Randalls Goby and Pistol Shrimp pair could I quarantine the shrimp with a tupperware of sand successfully? I'd hate to turn the shrimp loose in the DT and then not send his buddy in with him for another two months. What do you think?

My DT is fallow at the moment. The only bottom dweller I have is a Sailfin Blenny in QT which will be going back into the DT in a couple of weeks. So I'm looking ahead for my last few fish.

Goby and blenny are species that are pretty disease resistant. If there aren't anything in the DT, I don't see why you can't just drop them in. But if you must follow QT on all livestock, then a Tupperware with sand in the QT would work, but no meds can go into the QT though since that will kill the shrimp.

I never put meds into my QT. If fish must be medicated they go into special totes until they are well enough to go back into QT.

I put my pistol shrimp and gobie in QT together. I started with the sand in a Tupperware bowl but the shrimp was very small at the time and could not get in the bowl. I poured the sand out in the corner and he loved it and went right to work. In my case I break the QT down between uses so was not a big deal to get the loose sand out.

Then that makes it easy. Tossing a bowl of sand is not a big deal if needed. In my case I never need to medicate the gobie so I dried the sand for a while in the sun then rinsed well and dried again. It is ready for reuse now if ever needed.
