Goby tank mates

I have an orange-spotted goby and 2 clowns in a 29. Here are some possible fish that I want to add. Note: I'm just adding one...maybe 2. My tank has a lot of liverock, like 50 pounds between the dt and sump.

1. Fairy wrasse (would also get eggcrate)
2. Clown goby
3. Panda Goby
4. Royal Gramma
5. flasher wrasse


So which can I get and which can I not? Do you think I can handle more fish than just one?

If you can think of any other tank mates that you like, feel free to share.

I have a lot of leather and lps corals too.

eggcrate will not necessarily keep in a wrasse, I tell you this from experience. I'd get a Royal Gramma, and nothing else. Four fish is enough for a 29 gallon

Thanks for the help. I was thinking of getting two pandas, but since I am not 100% on keeping SPS for them, I think it's best I just stay with one fish. Thought of another. What about a hawkfish? Do you think it will eat a pistol shrimp (no problem, I'm hoping it would). What about a cleaner shrimp?

looks like I'll get a royal gramma, remove the pistol, and get a cleaner shrimp then.

Any reason I can't get a clown goby or a spotted hawk?

clown gobies can be difficult. the spotted hawk may get a little aggressive and may have a shrimp dinner. i'd stick with the royal gramma

IMO, I wouldnt waste the bioload on a clown goby. Mine is impossible to find, not too interesting at all. Perches all the time (if you can find it) and not a very interesting addition in my eyes.

I would have reccomend a Midas Blenny, but I didn't because of your orange-spotted goby. It might work, but I wouldn't try it unless it was a much bigger tank. I say stick with the Royal Gramma, they are beautiful and reach a decent size. Most of the time I only see baby Royal Grammas for sale, but one time I saw one at a LFS that was about 3-4 inches long and FAT, he was beautiful.

Yes in a 29 they would bother each other! Bad suggestion on my part

Alright! You guys have been very helpful. My LFS ALWAYS has at least one gramma in stock, so I should be set.
