Gobys turning white @ nigh?

My yellow watchman goby turns white at night. Is this normal? I noticed it weeks ago maybe months ago under the lunar lights. I turned the lights on and he was white. Next day he was yellow again. And it seems almost every night he turns white. He is healthy as far as I know

Perfectly normal. Most fish change color at night when sleeping, as camoflage from predators in the wild.

A visual for you -- the same fish,

+1 My mandarin also looks strange at night, the colors are actually spooky

Mine does exactly the same thing, the middle half of his body, from behind the head to his tail fin all get super pale. You can still see his stripes and different areas but its pale almost to an opaque extreme. During the day, he looks 100% normal.

My YWG does the same thing. He actually looks pretty cool, IMO. His spots take on a pretty blue-ish hue when he's white.
