God i want a pair of slippers

My FAF's (far away fish store) got some slipper coral (polyphillia tapina?) in recently and he wants Ã"šÃ‚£30 each but will give me two for Ã"šÃ‚£50 or one with branching poylps for Ã"šÃ‚£45. i was wondering if anyone has any experience with these that they would like to share. id imagine theyd be similar to keep as fungia (then again i thought that with Long tentacle plate!)

The slipper corals are very hardy animals, as are many of their relatives. There arent any branching ones that I know of-they are free-living polyps. IME, they are easy and will accept small meaty foods whenever offered. Just make sure that there is no recession on the bottom of hte coral or torn edges. In good conditions, even this will heal, may not want to take chances though. Also make sure it doesnt get covered in sand by gobies or powerheads. I say go for it-not sure about branched one though-probably something else.

no,no, deinately the POLYPs are branching like those of a frogspawn it still has the slipper base

Should a slipper coral always be on the sand or can it be set on a rock? I just purchased a green one the size of 2 baseballs for $25, does that sound like a good deal? New to purchasing corals.

are you talking about a tongue coral? i've always seen them as like, a lump with its little polyps out.. not branching.. i am confused

Same thing. Tongue Coral, I do not know why my LFS calls it a slipper coral. I was looking for more info on proper care for it. Location in tank, feeding, water flow, lighting, etc.. any advice
