well i think i am about to go a diffrent route with my tank i currnetly have a picaso and a grouper but i was thinking more and more about a lion i think the grouper would be alright with the lion but what other tank mates could e possibe i know anything that will fit in his mouth so i still might be limited .
any one around here had much experience keeping lions pros/cons ?
ive read through the aggressive forum but just checking local ?
and advice welcome i found a large black volitan for 60 bucks or a med for 40 and the roomie is talking me into it.
thanks
Dennis

if i go this route ill be selling my picasso btw . and maby the grouper

I kept a lion for 7 years. If it fit in his mouth, it was food. His tankies were a golden puffer, snowflake moray eel, clown and picasso trigger.

i had a drawf lion for a few years and he lived with a royal gramma.the gramma never became a meal,i did feed the lion live foods.he never looked at his tankmates as a meal.IMO if you keep them well fed they would PROBABLY not bother a smaller fish.mflamb is correct though,if they can fit in the fishes mouth then potential game on :D

thnaks guys i have read up and though the picasso would pick on the fans of the lion i guess you didnt have any problems with yours ?
id hate to stress the lion with a picking trigger .
but i thin k hell be just fine with the grouper though
did a few water test this mornin every thing looks great for a new addition =)

A long time ago, when I had my fist FO tank I had a Picasso trigger, a lion and a leopard grouper... no body bothered each other at all and they ate like pigs.

cool thanks so far it looks like i dont have to get rid of my other lil ones cool well i might just have to go pick him op on thursday if i do ill get some pice for yall thanks a bunch

A few hints on feeding. Start with live food. If lion eats the live food, put the live food on a 1/4 inch dowel rod slightly sharpened to "spear" the live food. Lion will eat the live food from the stick. After a week put thawed cube or shrimp on stick with live food. Lion will eat from stick. After a week lion will eat thawed cube or shrimp without stick.

I'd get rid of the Picasso IMO. He MIGHT be ok, but he'll PROBABLY cause a problem. I know you'll find something to replace him with that you'll enjoy even more. Otherwise, Lions are really nice fish that are very unaggressive as long as the other fish have some size to them. Wrasses, tangs, angels (maybe), puffers, eels, snappers, frogs, etc. are all good tankmates. Have fun!
