Going simplicity

I've desired to run DC pumps to see if it helps electricity bill. After reviewing several product lines. I've decided to go with Simplicity.

Curious to hear about the build quality and operating noise, as I'm considering the Simplicity or an AquaMedic for my current build.

The build quality is very good. I really like the way the skimmer body comes completely apart for cleaning and the ease of the cup removal. On the skimmer having a controller, I did not think there was any reason for it. I was thinking this was a waste, but then discovered when having to empty the collection cup. I do not have to unplug the unit, like I always did with all my other skimmers. I just turn the pump down and I can remove the cup with no spill overs.

As far as the sound they make. I plugged it in and thought the thing didn't work, but it was to my surprise. No noise at all. Now the only noise I can hear from my tank are the two cooling fans in my canopy.

The only thing I am worried about is the pumps life span, but the pumps do come with a three year warranty.

Hope it stays silent and working--the longevity of the Jebao variants is the only thing making me consider spending more for a DC pump
