getting rid of my 2x250 MH w/ 4 t5's and going all t5. Found a good price on both an 8 and 6 bulb Tek fixture. which do you recommend for my 75? and what's the best bulb combo?

i would go with a 6 bulb for a 75
ati blue plus
ati blue plus
ati pro color/ or a fiji purple
uvl aquasun
actinic of your choice i like the geissman pure actinic
ati blue plus

Stag's right in there with my recommendation.

ATI Blue +
Blue Special
GE 6500 K
Figi Purple
ATI Blue +
ATI Blue +

Im running a 6 bulb ati on my 75g, plenty of light:) . I was going to buy a tek also but after adding up the splash shield bulbs and hanging kit it wasnt too much cheaper than the ati sunpower with bulbs and everything + active cooling which prolongs life of ballast and bulbs. As far as bulbs I wouldnt do any actinics, the ati blue plus blow them away with intensity and flourescence. Im running
3 ati blue+, GE6500,uv actinic white and ati blue special. its a blue look but not dark blue, nice and bright. U A steamfitter? Milw. 601 here:D

I have an ATI Sunpower and really like the fixture!!! I played around with 1000 different bulb combo's and finally settled for this....

Front
ATI-Blue+
ATI-Blue+
Giesemann 6000k
ATI-Blue +
Giesemann 6000k
ATI-Blue+

I really like the Natural look with LOTS of POP and NO Tidy Bowl Blue Look!!!!

When My wife came home after this combo and said" Wow your tank looks good" I knew it was a keeper!!!!

She does'nt ever say anything nice about my tank........

Do you have a picture? I clicked on the redhouse but you mentioned the light was radiums.

so i was thinking of doing something similiar, but are you worried about the impact on your sps? I have a 90g tank, and i am afraid the change in light will kill sps.

WHY? are you afraid it will be too bright, or not enough?

I'm not trying to steal the thread but what would be a good combo with a 8 bulb Current T5?

from what people say, too much. But really just from the general change in type of lightining.

dubin Im sure that would be fine, but there is a thread dedicated to your question in the lighting and filtration forum called the t5 Q&A thread check there and also find pics of combinations. Id always buy an extra bulb or two to experiment with instead of wondering what if.

As long as you acclimate accordingly you should be fine......just think.....when you bought your SPS, there was a change in light going from one tank to another, right?????

These corals are really more tollarant than people think.....at least mine are!!!!:eek2:

True enough, but they look so good now!! Man, I need to just bite the bullet. I guess this all stems from a time I tried to put 14k bulbs in and I usually run 10k, and within 2 or 3 days a few things really went downhill.
