My wife and I will be taking a trip to Ikea this Sunday with my son. We need to get some stuff for his room. I would like to stop by a fish store close by that I can hopefully pick up some stuff. What do you guys recommend, that is not too far from the Ikea shop.

On that side of town, I would try Wet Pets and/or Aqua World. They are probably the closest to there, although neither is real close.

Hey Vu,
I definitely recommend Wet Pets if you're looking for an amazing display tank, and some relatively rare livestock, but their prices are pricey for most things... AquaWorld should be a little closer than Wet Pets, and you'll find the better deals there. Also, if you're looking for anything in particular, Jeff at AquaWorld if really good at getting things in a timely manner.

I'd say that you should come down to my place and check my tank out, but that would be extremely out of the way for you... If you ever are down near Wheeling, or St. Clairsville, let me know, and we can set something up...

I am looking at maybe buying a fish or 2, which place offer a better selection of livestocks? And also if anyone is interested in selling some frags, please let me know.

I would love to come and check out your tank Mark if I wasn't with my family. I don't think my wife would be too pleased with going to see more aquariums. She doesn't know that I want to stop by a fish store while over there yet :). Saw that you got some more frags, but your thread had not been upgraded since July?

Haha, I understand completely about the wife... I've got the same situation here, as I'm sure many people on here do as well lol.

Yeah, I'm not really good about updating my thread. I've made a lot of changes since July, and as much time as I spend online when I'm home from work, you'd think I'd be able to keep it up to date, but I don't... I'll try to get an update soon.

AquaWorld has a good selection of livestock at fair prices. The main thing about Wet Pets is their displays are set up beautifully, but the command the higher prices on most of their livestock. I still would recommend AquaWorld over Wet Pets, they'd be a little closer, and cheaper.

If it's fish you are looking for then I would go to Wet Pets. I have seven fish in my tank and they are all from Wet Pets. Aqua World definitely has better selection and prices on coral, but I always get my fish from Wet Pets. I have a purple tang I got about 4 years ago when they were at their other building.

I agree with Paul - Definitely Wet Pets for Fish. OTOH, Aquaworld as Paul noted has a better selection and pricing on corals (especially frags)

Well if both are not too far apart maybe I can stop by both on Sundays. What is their hours on Sundays by the way? Ray sent you a PM also.

they are about 30 minutes apart.

Pet Land is right across the road in the plaza. George is the fish guy. While the stock isn't huge, it's just right there and he's really nice. The fish stock is nice for the amount of room they have. He has a different method to some things than I have, but is more than willing to help me get things I've been wanting and knows I'm pretty good with fish so accommodates my requests pretty well. I'm in Weirton and not from this area and so driving through city area scares the bejesus outta me, quite frankly lol. I haven't ventured to any of the other places mentioned, just an FYI.

Granted, this is a little bit past the weekend, but just in case anyone ventures back out the demon land I call Ikea and the neverending store lol.

What store is the Pet Land in Robinson located next to? I have never seen that one. The Pet Land in Monroeville shut down its saltwater dept about a month ago. I wonder if it is the entire chain or just the store giving up on saltwater.

Mandy,
I'm in St Clairsville, and work for Frito-Lay, I deliver to Weirton Wal-Mart and Krogers... How is that pet store across the street from Wal-Mart? Do they get into saltwater at all?

Pet Land in robinson is between GNC and FedEx. I'm not even sure how I found the place. They're all independently owned, so my guess is that it was just the one in Monroeville. I'm in there at least 1 time a week and they all know me so they would definitely let me know if there were plans to shut down the saltwater dept haha. I'm stopping in there today so I'll check just to be sure.

I'll have to stop in the pet store across from Wal-mart to see. I haven't stopped in so I'll get back to you on that one, I almost hope not since I definitely do not need to find any more stores to shop in lol. :)

ok so not between GNC and FedEx, between GNC and UPS store in the plaza. No plans for them to change anything of what they are doing.

I haven't been to any great LFS, I normally shop off live aquaria's diver's den, but for any of the fish stores I've been in, it's a nice little one and he's willing to try to get in new things or things I want. There's a nice black durgeon trigger there that I really want but don't have my 240long I'm upgrading to, yet.
