going to georgia to see the aquarium-any ideas on what else to see while we are there

Georgia Aquarium

Georgia Aquarium

Jason, you won't be disappointed in the Georgia Aquarium; the whale sharks are simply a wonder to behold (although sadly, check this out: Whale Shark Death )
A few other delights:
The MLK Center is very educational AND inspirational (The King Center ).
There's the Atlanta Underground (which IMO is an over-rated tourist trap).
The CNN Center gives tours (for a fee I think) - CNN Studio Tour
If you're into hockey, the Thrashers are a few points ahead of our Lightning for first in the SE Division (if they're in town).
Check out The Varsity (The Varsity ) a legendary Atlanta eatery near Georgia Tech.

For great pizza, I recommend: Fellini's Pizza
HTH - and of course, the North Georgia mountains are only about an hour away.

Well i agree, the aquarium is awsome!! the layout is different from any aquarium I've ever seen. Instead of haveing a bee-line through, you first enter a large middle area, then from thier you get to pick and choose where you want to go. So if you feel like you wanted to see one of the sections again you could always go back.

When we were up there we caught a Braves game but, i don't know if that'll help you in this situation.

The Varsity have great hot dogs, and is right across the street from GT. The aquarium is awesome, and be sure to check out the olympic torch. And of course Turner Field.

I have only been to Atlanta once to go to Dragoncon but from our hotel we could see the Coke Factory. I think you can get tours and free samples of Coca Cola products there it looked fun!

There's also a street- maybe someone can help me with the name? It has the most diverse food selection on it (albeit it looks dumpy) with anything from mexican to italian to chinese to thai to japanese etc like, in just a couple miles on the same stretch.

Bring back pics of your trip! I wanna see the fishies!

I wish you would of let me know you were coming up to the GA aqurium, Im in Chattanooga this weekend. When I went to the GA aqueioum I went to the Coca Cola Factory and I think it was a waste of money. The under ground mall was kewl. I was also there during baseball season so we went to a game for I think 15 bucks. It was great. OH also there was some really nice Strip Clubs. Im not sure if your girl is into them but they have some of the best in the country there. At any rate there is tons of things to do in Atlanta, alittle of planning and you guys will have a blast. Let me know what you think of the town.

where is the underground mall-and what strip clubs do you -suggest-we are here now and we dont see much of anything-there are tons of them around but most of them look pretty ghetto.

thank you everyone for telling us about all the good stuff - had a good time and maybe my girl will post pics - we went to aquarium of course, but also to underground - coke - varsity and a couple other places-it was fun. thanks again

two things - i think the whales shouldnt have been taken from the wild the way they were and the turtle was in way too small of a tank oh and they shouldnt have had sharks in the touch tank - they made sure they picked sharks that have to keep moving in order to breath so that we could be entertained by being able to touch them
