Im thinking about going and taking the course to get certified in scuba diving. Does anyone want to take the course with me?

I havent got any prices but everyone i have talked to so far has said somewhere around 275.00 Right now I was just checking to see if anyone wanted to take it with me. A friend of mine got certified from a lady at sea world he thought it was only like 180 bucks, so im tring to get ahold of her.

That would be great, but daytona is a little over an hour drive for me.

I just called a dive shop were a friend got certified and it is $260 if you buy your mask snorkle and fins from him. They have a class that starts every 2 weeks on thursday night. Of course thats tonight so I will be signing up for the next class in 2 weeks if I cant find it cheaper. Im still waiting to hear back from the lady that does it for sea world. I will call a few more places to see if I can get a better price. If not im signing up for in 2 weeks. Oh the place is off edgewater. They have a 2 hours class on thursday night, then that sat. its a class from I think 8 am to 5 pm, then the following sun. its the samething and then the next week or something you take your dives. So its a quick corse.

it took several weekends...I want to say 3 or 4 weekends...keep in mind a couple of those were dive trips...Why not just go to the marriot in key largo...they do it in a single weekend from what i heard...I am not sure how much though...try their website if they have one, which i think they do...

It's been awhile since I got certified. Mine was I think 4 or 6 classes in a classroom and then we did 8 ocean dives. It was one of the best things I've ever done. I did it when I was goign to highschool in venezuela. I've never dove anywhere that has even compared to that. That was 13 years ago and cost me 80 bucks.

how long does it take to be certified?

Depends on the shop. Most of it is home study now, they give you the book to take home with you before the classes start. When you go to classroom they go over everything and then you do the chapter tests and the final exam.

We did the classroom over 2 days and the 4 dives over 2 days, so 4 days total. We did our dives at the springs.

i got mine in crystal river we did all of our "classroom" stuff online adn went in there gave our online printed tests and he graded them asked a few questions and we were diving in 2 hours did spring dives for 5 hours and then the next day a few spring dives for a few hours and we were done and 200 bucks and he supplied all gear except fins mask so good to go. if you get it done and need a buddy look me up
