Going to Sydney

Hi everyone, I'll be going to Sydney towards the end of the month and I would love to go to some LFS over there and pick up some coral and fish. Being a huge lover of wrasses, there are lots of awesome ones over there and would love to get my hands on a few especially the lennardi and femininus. So I would greatly appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction of some LFS over there. Name and basic address would be fantastic. Thanks for all the help.

Hate to rain on your parade but have you checked with our Customs section regarding this?.I'd be very surprised if you can just add a couple of boxes of coral - in particular - to your excess baggage without any headache at our end...

Re: lennardi and feminus. lennardi is seasonal and from.WA so very few places routinely carry it. One does when they're available ...similarly with feminus the demand overseas is great but not so great locally. You would need to talk to a shop in advance who deals with the collector and orders it in to (hopefully ) coincide with your arrival. You will most likely need to leave a deposit assuming they intend to place an order for a box from him anyway....

RE: Coral. Each week shops get new boxes sent from QLD, WA and NT by collectors. Quality varies markedly and according to local weather that affects collecting in certain areas. These arrivals are usually weds - Fri. If you're not there at the time the shop gets the boxes from the airport you can't cherry pick meaning the ordinary stuff is all that remains the next day. This is especially true for acro.
Unfortunately the last year in particular has seen a big contraction in LFS growth leaving fewer options for bricks and mortar stores.

Once you have contacted Australian customs and have a go ahead I'm sure we can give you more details. As an aside Sydney is a big place so you will definitely need to hire a car.

HTH and good luck!

Thanks for the advice. I had a feeling the customs might have been a problem so was planning to ask when I got there. I'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed that I can get some but I won't be able to smuggle it in neither, the wife will likely turn my *** in. Will definitely be getting a car so even if I ain't gonna be able to take anything back with me, would still like to see the LFS.
