After seeing Greg Hiller's beautiful Gold Flake Angel fish....I want one ! However, I alredy have a Dwarf Flame Angel in my display tank. Does anyone know weather keeping both these species in the same tank is ok.....or will the Gold Flake beat on the Flame ?

Regards,

As long as the Gold Flake is not too small in the beginning, you should be fine. I think the gold flake gets to be a pretty decent size angel but in the 300, it should be fine.

Chuck,

You might get away with it, but your fish load seems to be getting pretty high in that tank. The goldflakes get pretty big.

The Gold Flakes are beautiful. I can't wait till I have a tank big enough to put one in.

Let 's see, how many fish DO I have?

1 Copperband Butterfly
2 Heniochus
6 Anthias
2 False Percula Clownfish
1 Clarkii Clownfish
1 Sunrise Dottyback
1 Bengai Cardinal
1 Yellow Tang
1 Naso Tang
1 Hippo Tang
1 Powder Blue Tang
1 Dwarf Flame Angel

Total = 19 fish

Anyone want a hippo tang for free....just kidding

Letââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s see

1 Yellow Tang 8ââ"šÂ¬Ã‚
1 Naso Tang 14ââ"šÂ¬Ã‚-18ââ"šÂ¬Ã…"œ
1 Hippo Tang 12ââ"šÂ¬Ã‚
1 Powder Blue Tang 9ââ"šÂ¬Ã‚
Another 36" of other fish +/-

Gold Flake Angel 10ââ"šÂ¬Ã‚

300 gal. Gets small fast doesnââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t it?:) :)

Spyro, go get it. What's the worst that could happen? You got to fish out the flame angels. Throw that in the frag tank.

The lesson I learned is that if your fish load gets too high (partial speculation here) you start to have problems with corals not growing well. I think it's due to the excess phosphates in the water. I was having some problems with regression in some Acros, I had a die back of my big fish about 12 months ago (the no recirc/low O2 problem), and afterward my corals started looking much better. If you really carefully manage the nutrient issue maybe with a really big refugium, and really good skimming, etc. it might not be a problem. The Naso tangs get VERY VERY large.

I think you should do it Spyro, after you put that 300 gallon sump online you should have over 600 gallons right.

Let's see... my display tank is 300 gallons, the sump holds 25 gallons when half full, 50 gallong fuge, and 30 gallon frag tank . Total now = 505 gallons. When I add the 150 gallon sump and the 65 gallon frag tank (lets assume 40 gallons in the frag tank and 100 gallons in the sump). Total will be around 600 gallons.

Also I have a really oversized skimmer....I'm going for it !!!!!

oops..bad math.

Total now = 300 + 25 + 50 + 30 = 405 gallons
Total later = 300 + 50 + 30 +150 + 65 = 595 gallons
