Gold Heart trigger

Anyone have an experience with these triggers? I've read that they are calmer than other triggers, they dont pick fights but just hang out by themselves.

The guy at JustRareFish.com said that he doesnt view them as aggressive, but that they are able to fight off other aggressors just fine, so they arent pushovers.

To me, they have the same body shape as the Queen trigger, which makes me a little nervous :)

i have no expience but i hear there not aggressive or atleast for a trigger they arent. try the medium just in case =D

Yeah, I ordered the 4-5" one from JustRareFish last week, it gets in this afternoon at about 4:00pm my time. It is going right into quarantine!

I don.t know.I have one and it is more aggressive than my queen trigger.Mainly when it comes to food, new additions and its sleeping area.Great personality and a really cool trigger to have.Get it you wont be disappointed.

Not as aggressive as a queen......get one....now.
Heh, ok. It will be here in about 4-5 more hours, I'm getting excited. QT tank is all set up and ready to go, water has been mixed for over 24 hours.

I'm going to let it just sit and get fat and used to the place, then in a week treat for ich because I'm not allowing ich to get into my main tank again, I dont care if it isnt showing signs of it, it is getting treated. My other triggers are handling copper just fine, so hopefully this Gold Heart is just as hardy as the other triggers.

The good news is there wont be any new additions. I've got 3 triggerfish and a golden puffer going into the 210g I've had set up for 4-5 months now. It will actually be set up for 6+ months by the time the fish are all through quarantine, so it should be just fine for 4 fish total.

I'm looking forward to this fish, it seems like a really cool one, it might surpass my clown trigger as favorite fish ;)

Both trigs are beauties.....That pic of the queen really is nice.

Recty, post pics tonight........or else!

I had one, and one problem happened.....my kids named it. Dead in like 3 weeks. Don't name a fish.

I got a new blue line and it is in one heck of a system I set up at school.....colors aren't that nice....yet. Will post pics when it gets the blue back.

Can't wait to see pics of the new goldheart...IMO they might be the best looking trigs out there.

triggerfreak, that is one heck of a system. Kudos.

Nice pictures triggerfreak, thanks for the shots. That queen is beautiful. I wish they were easier to find, I might attempt keeping one but I've been looking for a while and not able to find one.

I will post pictures, as long as the trigger complies.

He is going into a 55g quarantine hex tank that is only about 2/3 full, so into about 35-40g of water. It's an old tank that definitely has some scratches, so dont expect anything too amazing.

Well crap, my wife has already named my Golden puffer and we dont even get it in until tomorrow, hopefully it survives the trip.

Wow i can't be leave how common these triggers have become. I remember around 3-4 years ago when i got the first one that hit states. Still one of my fave triggers. But do watch the aggression. Mine slowly became the boss of my tank. Just make sure he's well fed and he should leave the other tank mates alone. I sold mine about a year and a half ago to a local fish collector because he out of no where snapped and killed two of my fish in the tank.

I'm not worried too much about aggression, he is in a rough and tumble mix, but only time will tell.

Unfortunately, he came in very poor condition, the water was 61 degrees and he was just laying sideways in the bag, super dark coloring. I was sure he was dead, but it turns out he wasnt. He was all curled up on his side and looked dead though.

I squished the bag a little bit to move him and I saw a pectoral fin trying to wiggle around and his mouth moved a little, so I warmed the water slowly so as not to shock him. I dumped in some of the ammonia absorbing pellets because I figure it cant hurt. Once the water was about 65 degrees, I started dripping slowly tank water into it along with a bubbler. I did this over an hour and a half and he slowly recovered. He still wasnt doing very good when he went into the QT tank, but after a couple hours he is up and swimming around. I only had a room light on, so as soon as he started looking like he would survive the night, I turned it off so he had some darkness and peace.

Hopefully tomorrow he does better, he certainly shipped poorly. I'm pretty surprised he recovered, he was sooooo cold and moving soooooo slowly, I really thought he would die. Testament to how tough triggers can be though :)

I'm glad they don't cost as much.....don't need a clarion of a trigger. Queens still may be able to compete for the title of best looks, but it is a fresh and clean looking trigger. Can't wait to see the pics......shipped to Alaska huh? How much was shipping?

The Deadliest Catch!

You say 4-5" is what you ordered....measure it before you toss it in the qt. Have someone there if needed to help measure it. Well worth it for the documentary aspect. That new blue I got is 4.5" so it falls right in the 4-5" range. Would like to compare the growth rates......as long as the fish gods allow that is.

Shipping was $59.96, which isnt bad considering it's 13 lbs shipped overnight from the east cost of the US to Alaska.

The Deadliest Catch is filmed not too many miles from me :) I enjoy watching it, I've been on or around most of the boats you'll see.

I'll definitely measure it, I think it's about 4", definitely not 5". Once he gets up and moves around better I'll stick a flexible weight tape around the outside of the aquarium and see how long he is compared to it, but yeah, 4" is about right. As far as measuring before I toss it in the QT, I tossed him in there about 4 hours ago, so a little too late on that.

Hopefully both our triggers live long and prosper!

Nice, your fish looks very clean. My fishes eyes are really green and hazy looking, I think he was just banging around in the bag and got pretty beat up. His body looks good, but his eyes have that cloudy look, not a fluke cloudy look, just like he needs some good water quality and some TLC. Mine was also pretty much just brown, very dark, due to the stress. I'm hoping tomorrow when I flick the lights on he will be calmed down and happier and start showing his normal colors.

Though a shorter flight, my HI coris was in about 1" of cold water as it had popped bag before it came in. I called HI and was told just to toss it into my 82 deg water.....that was over 3 years ago and still kickin'. The eye color is much like how some humu's have, or a blue line, or a queen:
