Hi everyone,

after 14 days on my QT with coper to treat Ich and the fish seemed fine to me eating very well today I decided to make a 20% water change and make another treatment with Sterazin to kill any possible intestinal worms that could menace my display tank. Anyway I went several times to the room to see how the fish was reacting and would give him a little food to check. At the last check this afternoon I put in some food and he went towards the food and suddenly had an attack hitting the tank walls and making a flip and sunk to the bottom like if he was dead or fainted. Then he slowly recovered looking like if he had difficulty breathing. I imideately turned out the lights and did a 40% water change and placed activated carbon on the tank to try and fix thing if the case was poisening. Right now he is still alive and swims arround but I never saw that happening before. Can somewone make a coment on this one.

I hoppe he gets better I love that fish

The fish is still alive...

The fish is still alive...

My rabitfish is still alive but when I went feeding him this morning he had another of those attacks! Then recovered slowlly. I did 20% water change again and he is still alive but I am afraid this could be Whirling disease. Can somewone give a little help here please.

from my experience in reading about whirling decease they swim circles until they exhaust themselves and fall to the bottom. i am not sure what this may be but i would check for stray voltage to start with.

Thanks for your help here. I will test the tank! Anyway today the fish looks a little better today and accepts food. but his swims up and down a bit and he fliks his dorsal fin and his lwer fins.

If you can more help is welcome here.

Thanks again

i have read about this in fresh water discus and other cichlids before. it seems like it is attributed to genetics in some cases. i would still check the currents and if that doesnt work i wouldnt know where to go from there. sorry i couldnt be more help. maybe someone else can chime in,
