Gold spotted rabbit fish

has anyone have any thoughts on keeping this fish in a sps tank?
some say it can nip on corals if not kept well fed. i would like to know your experience. i know few weeks ago salty critter had it in their sps display.

Its hit or miss really. I haven't had any issues at all with mine. I believe Erik had one that nipped at SPS. The orange spot at SC that was in their frag tank was literally going to town on SPS until they pulled it.

Based on that, even though I love mine, I probably wouldn't recommend it.

i really like the fish. has anyone tried a hook to get their fishes out of their tanks. you can see the temptation i am having to get one and try it but am worried that i will not be able to get him out if he is a no go with corals.

also i am looking to add some wrasses. i see the flame wrasses are really quite expensive. Are they that pretty to justify their prices? Which is your favorite wrasse?

Hmm...maybe that's what happened to my zoanthids! Here I thought they died. Might have been my rabbit chowing down on them

Yellow Blotch Rabbitfish, also known as the Orange-Spotted Spinefoot, Orange Spotted Foxface Rabbitfish, or Gold Saddle Rabbitfish

yep all names for the same fish

he can chow as many zoanthids they want. i have some in my tank that i want to get rid of any way as long as he leaves my sps alone. lol

Never hooked one out but you can definitely use a fish trap to remove them. Just takes patience.

Another typical good citizen worth considering that has unique markings is the scribbled rabbitfish (Siganus doliatus).

Like I said, its really a matter of luck as some individuals will behave in a reef set up. Others look at corals (soft or sps) like its pumpkin pie. I got lucky with mine (knock on wood). He's been in there about 4mos and is well fed. If you pick one up from salty, make sure you ask to make sure its not the one that was in their frag tank.
