gold stripe maroon clown tankmates

So Im in the very early stages of a 40 breeder build but just as anyone else, livestock is always on my mind lol.

Being a Florida State alum, Ive always been drawn to the gsm clown and Im pretty deadset on getting one juvenile. I am not looking to stock this tank very heavily as a BTA is on the list down the road, so maybe 1-2 more fish. Tank will consist of 2 islands, one smaller for the nem and one larger to hold a mix of sps/lps.

Any ideas?

First off, most likely your nem will not stay on the island. They usually go to the place we don't want them to be.
Second, goldstripe maroon clowns are very very aggressive so be careful.

Look into a coral beauty or some wrasses. I like the melanarus wrasse and carpenter flasher wrasse.

i have a pair in a 75 and aslong as my hand stays away from the long tenticle nem there in they really dont bothere anybody else, have breeding bangi cardinals and 4 lyretail anthias in the tank also a midas blenny and combtooth blenny and mandrin goby. everybody is happy so far. they done even bother the 2 fire shrimp or the coral banded shrimp when there around

You're more than likely will end up with just that - a pair of Maroon clowns. Once they're paired up. they will kill all newcomers. Not to mention, they get upwards of 6 inches or more each. So you're pretty much stocked unless you upgrade to a larger tank.

I have a pair in my 30 and they're sweet. Coming up to 2 years old now. I also have 2 damsels and a jawfish. No tank aggression

Maroons are the most aggressive of all clownfish species. They may be sweet now but wait til they get older as they pair up and start breeding. You'll hate them soon enough. LOL!
